Chic, Comfy, & Casual: Sneakers for Spring

Happy Monday beauties!

Today’s blog post is all about sneakers.  They look cute paired with just about anything, have the obvious benefit of comfort, and can be styled to make any outfit look casual chic.  They aren’t quite as skin-bearing as a pair of sandals, but let your ankles breathe more than a pair of Winter boots.  I’m sharing my current favorite styles for Spring and some tips for pairing them with the right pieces.  Take advantage of the President’s Day sales and pick up a pair for your transitional Spring wardrobe!  All of the product titles are clickable, as well as the slideshow of photos at the end of the post.

1 | Converse Chuck Tailors

Everyone loves a classic pair of chuck tailors!  I love this version because I don’t have to worry about tying the laces (anything to get out the door faster- right?).  They are super durable, affordable, and go well with just about everything.  I pair mine with a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans, tucked in t-shirt, and long cardigan.  They are effortlessly chic and will never go out of style.    I find that these run a half size small, so order accordingly!  Just a tip- regular ankle socks won’t work with these as they cut pretty low on the ankle.  Purchase a pair of “no show” socks like these and you will be good to go!  I typically buy mine at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

2 | New Balance for J. Crew

I absolutely adore the minimalist gold accent on these shoes.  They go with everything and are super comfortable.  I like to pair these with athleisure looks (aka a super cute workout outfit that you may or may not actually exercise in).  They are easily cleaned despite their bright white color and you can wear normal ankle socks with them no problem!

3 | Steve Madden Quilted Slip-Ons

The pair I tagged above are the ones I own in a beautiful blush color- however they also come in an olive color and black or rose gold.  They are available in a bunch of sizes in all of the colors I hyperlinked!  Let me start by saying these are the COMFIEST sneakers in the world.  I found that the elastic got looser with increased wear, so I own my normal size, 7.5, and it’s the perfect fit for me.  I wear these to work all the time- they are super easy to keep clean.  Just use soap and water or a Mr. Clean magic eraser on the white rubber to keep them in prime condition.  I pair these with just about everything- skinny jeans, ripped boyfriend jeans, leggings, loose sweaters, and long-sleeve T’s with a vest over top.

4 | Soludos Platform Espadrilles

These beauties are on my wish list!  The espadrille-style makes them the perfect option to wear with skirts or dresses.  I can see these paired with a flowy floral wrap dress or a jean skirt and a bright top for an easy, chic look- not to mention comfortable!  I think these are the “dressiest” of the options I linked in this post but I love how versatile they are- trips to the beach or dinner dates are both good options.

5 | Adidas UltraBoost Running Shoe

These running sneaks are bit on the pricer side, which is why I haven’t invested in a pair myself.  I absolutely love the color ash pearl, but they are sold out of almost every size at every retailer I checked.  I also love the color grey/carbon/ash pearl combo.  I think they are the perfect neutral workout shoe and they have received raving reviews for quality and comfort- most reviews reflect that they are true to size so snatch a pair for yourself if you are on the market for a new running shoe!

6 | Gola for J. Crew Tennis Sneakers

My favorite color combo in these are the white/navy/red.  I think they are a fun classic twist on a standard white sneaker and could work well with any outfit.  They are still available in plenty of sizes too!

7 | Allbirds Wool Runners

These sneakers are made form natural wool, and are available in a lot of color options.  They are comfortable, lightweight, and simple.  They are a great option for a running or athletic sneaker- however, they would be super cute with a pair of leggings, a sweater, and a puffer vest to transition into Spring!

8 | Vans Classic Slip-On Sneaker

Like the above, these come in a TON of color options and are the classic slip on.  The outfit options are endless- I love the versatility and comfort of a slip on sneaker.  They will never go out of style and couldn’t be easier!

9 | Adidas Gazelle Sneaker

These are definitely on my wish list- they are a classic minimalist sneaker with simple neutral stripes.  My favorite color combo is the crystal white/white but they have two other options if the white sneaker look isn’t your thing.  They are available in plenty of sizes and would look great with just about anything!  According to reviews, they run large, so order a full size down.

10 | Adidas NMD R2 Sneaker

These are SO cute- I absolutely love the dusty pink color since they will go with black, navy, and grey (the majority of exercise pants I own are in these colors).  I anticipate these selling out fast so I might pick up a pair for myself- I’ve been on the hunt for a new pair of athletic sneakers.  Most reviews say to order a full size down so I plan on ordering a half size and full size down just to be safe in case they sell out of the size I need.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and are able to pick up a pair or two of the perfect sneakers to transition your wardrobe into Spring!  Below I posted some of my own photos to show off how I style a few of my favorite sneakers in this post!  Cheers to warmer weather and a style that is fashionable, comfortable, and chic. xx

January Favorites

H A P P Y   m o n d a y

January has been a month of reflection, goal-setting, and healthy habit forming.  I have had the opportunity to trial some new products throughout December and January and I am SO excited to share my favorites with you guys!  This month’s lineup happens to be a little heavy on the beauty products- likely because the Winter “uglies” are in full force.  My skin is dry and pale, and I need all the help I can get in terms of skin care and makeup.  Anyone else?!

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

1 | Laura Geller Cover Lock Cream Foundation

This is the best foundation I have ever tried.  The beauty tech at Ulta recommended it and I am so thankful she did.  It provides full coverage, but doesn’t feel heavy at all.  I put it on over my moisturizer and blend it with this applicator sponge.  It goes on so smoothly, lasts all day, and doesn’t clog my pores.   I use the shade fair which has warmer undertones and isn’t too ivory.  This stuff is good guys.

 2 | Five Minute Journal

The Five Minute Journal has allowed me to identify more reasons to be grateful, challenges me to set daily intentions, and reflect on the ways in which I can take action to facilitate positive change in my own life.  How it works: Each morning when you wake up and each night before bed, you take 5 minutes or less to fill in the journal prompts.  I have been journaling for almost two weeks and I can clearly see the positive impact this daily habit has been having on my life.  Bad days are made better with a shift in perspective, and I feel genuinely happier as I am consistently prompted to identify reasons for which to be grateful.  I HIGHLY recommend this product!

3 | Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

This concealer is full-coverage, comes in a variety of shades, and is a good value as a little goes a long way.  The applicator wand makes for easy application.  I usually apply a few strokes under each eye and over any blemishes.  For an extra highlight I will add some between my eyebrows and on my chin.  I use that same blender sponge to apply it over my foundation- make sure the sponge is damp for a flawless application.  This is truly the best concealer I have ever tried.  The creasing throughout the day is very minimal (I have yet to find one that doesn’t crease at all), and it lasts all. day. long.

4 | Invisibobble Traceless Hair Ring

I LOVE this hair tie.  It doesn’t leave a crease in your hair, causes less breakage, and comes in a variety of colors.  Because I no longer have that dreaded crease when I take my pony tail out, this hair tie has contributed to a significant decrease in the frequency that I use a straightener on my hair- I’m all for less heating tools.  Perfect for you ladies who sneak in your morning workout before work but only have the time to body shower and dry shampoo. No crease= less heat and less time getting ready.

5 | Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

I have chronic under eye circles, regardless of the number of hours slept or cups of coffee consumed.  I use this product as a primer under my regular concealer and notice a significant difference in the appearance of my under eye circles.  I also notice that it contributes to less creasing throughout the day and overall gives me a bright, awake complexion.  On lighter makeup days or if I am pressed for time, this works perfect alone as an under eye concealer.

6 | Socialite Off the Shoulder Sweater Dress

This dress is affordable, classy, flattering, and INSANELY comfortable.  I was initially drawn to it because of the classic mid length, long-sleeve, off the shoulder style but as soon as I felt the material, I couldn’t leave Nordstrom without it.  I wore it to a NYE party and paired it with a pair of black patent pointed-toe pumps for a classic look.  Not only did I feel fabulous, but I was so cozy all night.  At $49 with free shipping, this dress is a no brainer!  Although this dress runs true to size, I chose to size up to a medium from my usual size small because I wanted it to be a tad less fitted.

7 | Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

This is an acne spot treatment that dries up pesky blemishes.  You put it on at night before bed then wash it off in the morning.  Every time I use it, I notice a significant decrease in the size and redness of the blemish when I wake up the next morning.  The secret is in the application of this- DO NOT shake the bottle.  Dip a Q-tip until it reaches the bottom, where the pink sediment is settled.  You want a clay-like texture, and by shaking the bottle, you are diluting the product’s active ingredients.   I love how fast acting this product is- its a life saver on the night before a big presentation or hot date 😉

I hope you enjoy these products as much as I truly do.  Cheers to the start of February and the slowly approaching Spring weather! xx

Holiday Gift Guide For Her Under $50

Good morning!

Per popular demand on Instagram story polls, I put together this gift guide for the girls- with gift options all under $50.   These would make perfect gifts for the stylish ladies in your life- girlfriends, wives, aunts, cousins, sisters, friends- you name it!  I included some of the items I own and love, and some that would be on my wish list if I had one 😉  If you want to read a little about each item, I included short descriptions below.  If you’d prefer, you can just click the corresponding numbers under the photo collage to get to each website address.  Happy shopping my loves!

1 |  J. Crew Striped Cape Scarf

I just ordered this in navy and I can’t wait until it comes in!  It’s versatile, chic, and looks so cozy- any excuse to basically wear a blanket in public right?  Being that it’s one size fits all (aka no guess work on sizing), this would make the perfect gift for the girls in your life- your bestie, your girlfriend or wife, aunts or cousins, even grandma! It’s a classic and timeless piece that transcends age.

2 | Anthropologie Candle

This candle is not only beautiful but it smells amazing.  Candles have such a special way of making any space feel warm and inviting.

3 | J. Crew Ribbed Beanie

I also just ordered this in the color vintage champagne.  It looks like that color sold out online but they still have it in heather graphite and black.  I love the ribbed knitting and cute faux fur pom pom detail!  Who doesn’t love a cute beanie to stay warm in the winter?

4 | Gold Hair Tie Bracelet

This bracelet prevents hair ties from leaving that uncomfortable mark around your wrist and transforms them into a stylish bracelet!  I love the gold color and I would pair it with a black hair tie.  You can also get it custom engraved for an extra $10.  This would make the best stocking stuffer!

5 | 25 oz. Swell Bottle

I absolutely love my swell bottle!  Two of my best friends gifted it to me for my birthday and I use it every day now.  I mostly use it to keep my drinks cold (24 hours of cold!!) but it keeps drinks hot as well.  Bonus- the 25 oz. will hold an entire bottle of wine 😉  Think- happy hour beverages on the beach in the Summer.  Cheers!

6 | J. Crew Tortoise Hoop Earrings

I own and love these earrings.  They are the perfect neutral accessory that pair well with any outfit. If you want try the statement earring trend but are a little nervous if it’s for you, these are a great start.

7 | 2018 Monthly Planner

This is the perfect holiday gift.  The person receiving this will be able to start organizing and planning for the new year ahead in a stylish, minimalist planner.  Great for high school or college students, or your type-A friends and family members!  I could also see this being a great gift for teachers.

8 | Anthropologie Monogram Mug

One of my girlfriends gifted me this mug a few years ago and I probably use it the most out of any I own.  The shape is perfect- my mom and I fight over it.  Not to mention the patterns are so cute, it’s personalized, and it’s on sale for only $5.00!  Such a steal.

9 | Converse Sneakers

These sneakers are the best.  They pair well with any casual outfit and the elastic ankle makes them easy to slip on an off.  I love mine and wear them all the time!

10 | Tarte Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette

I ordered this palette during Tarte’s Cyber Monday deal and I am so excited for it to come in!  I currently use Urban Decay’s Naked Palette (which I love) but I’m ready for a change.  This has a nice variety of matte and shimmery neutral colors.  You can’t go wrong gifting this to the girls in your life!

11 | Grey Joggers

If you guys aren’t yet convinced that these are the best pants you’ll ever own, here it goes.  They are as soft as butter, available in all sizes in two colors, and are under $17!  I own them in grey and I sized up to a medium because I mostly wear them to lounge and sleep in so I wanted them to be loose and cozy.  I wear them so much that my boyfriend Mark asked if I ever wash them- the answer by the way is yes, but I have considered ordering a second pair to have on backup while the others are in the wash.  Yes, they are that good.

12 | Dogeared Linked Ring Necklace

I love this simple, delicate, necklace.  It’s gold, which I love, and comes on a card with a positive message.  It would make a perfect, thoughtful gift for your girlfriend or bestie!

13 | LipSense Starter Kit

You guys have heard me rave about these products before on the blog.  I just ordered 2 new colors and a gloss to gift to myself- treat yourself ladies.  Check my LipSense blog post for a more detailed review of the product if you’re interested!  Although a starter kit retails for $52, this option is under $50 if you use my code ROSECOLORED15 at time of purchase!

14 | Essie’s Gel Couture Kit

This is another product you’ve heard me talk about before.  I posted the details in my October favorites post if you’re interested in learning more!  I love this option for a gift because you get the color and the topcoat together- it’s cheaper than if you were to buy them separate.  My favorite colors are fairy tailor (pinkish nude) and gala-vanting (wine red).

I hope you guys found this post helpful and feel inspired to treat yourself or the people you love.  I hope you all have a beautiful weekend! xx

Transitioning to Fall

Hi everyone and Happy Labor Day!  Although it’s not yet fall according to the calendar, the unofficial kickoff for all things fall happens every year right around Labor Day (cue the pumpkin spice lattes).  The nights are getting chillier, it smells like fall, and it’s no longer acceptable in the laws of fashion to wear white pants.  For this week’s post, I am sharing some of my favorite staple pieces to help transition your wardrobe into the new season.  I included a mix of things I already own and love, and some others that are on my wish list.  As you know, I believe in investing in the transitional, high-quality staple pieces that will be fashionable for years to come.  Take advantage of the Labor Day sales and treat yourself!

I fell in love with this Cuyana bag when I saw it in person on a trip to visit my bestie in LA.  Although I don’t own it yet, I will be placing my order soon!  It’s spacious enough for the essentials but will prevent my habitual hoarding of sunglasses, receipts, gum wrappers, and water bottles.  It can be worn at the elbow or over the shoulder.  It’s made from Italian leather and comes in my favorite neutral color- a gorgeous chestnut brown (also comes in a dusty pinkish-nude and black).  It can also be personalized with your initials on a separate leather charm.  Yes, it is a splurge item- but the style of the bag is timeless and it’s made from quality materials.  I can see myself using this now and for years to come.  I also linked some more affordable options that are super stylish and perfect for fall!

Saddle crossbody | Slouchy tote |Double zip satchel

I purchased this J. Crew dress a few weeks ago after trying it on in the store.  It does not come in petite but is still super flattering and hits mid-knee on my 5’3” frame.  The size 4 hugs my curves but gives me enough room to feel comfortable after eating a burger and fries for dinner (the best of both worlds).  The heavier cotton material and long sleeve make this dress the perfect transition piece into fall.  Plus you know I’m loving the navy and white stripes. For the last few weeks of summer, pair it with a nude, lace-up sandal like these.  To transition into fall, pair it with converse sneakers for a casual look, or a neutral ankle bootie for date night.

This Banana Republic sweater is a current favorite of mine.  I scored it a few weeks ago for 50% off in the color, “cloud gray”-win!  Currently, I’m styling it with a pair of sweats, a cotton tank, and slippers 😉  It’s SO cozy, comes in light gray or brown, and can be worn casually or professionally.  A big plus for me is that it’s not dry-clean only (who has time for that?).  I love the pockets and the slit stitch detailing down the arms and back.

| PANT |

You can’t go wrong with a cropped chino pant.  They are comfortable, breathable, and transition effortlessly from casual to professional wear.  I own three pairs of chinos from J. Crew- in a khaki, linen, and sage green color.  I will be working at a school this fall and although the dress code is business casual, we are expected to be on the floor getting messy with kids all day!  Chinos are the answer.  They pair perfectly with a loose sweater and flats, tucked in with a belt and fitted t-shirt, with ankle booties- you name it!

| SHOE |

A classic slide from Banana Republic.  The pink champagne color and sweet tassle detail make this shoe a perfect neutral addition to any fall shoe collection.  Sizes 6-9 are still available!  I also linked a few other neutral flats if these don’t do it for you.

Beige pointed-toe flats | Brown suede loafers |Beige and black ballet flats

Here’s the good news- J. Crew is running a Labor Day promotion for 30% off your purchase that ends tonight! Use code YESPLEASE at checkout to apply the discount. Banana Republic is also running a holiday promotion for 40% off your purchase so grab your fall staples on sale until tomorrow-no code and free shipping on orders over $50! I would love to hear your current favorites for fall- leave a comment! Do you have any pieces that you’ve gotten use out of season after season?  I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend celebrating with friends and family.  Happy Labor Day to all and cheers to a 3-day weekend & 4-day work week! xx
